Despite the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic, Sarasota's real estate market saw one of its stongest years since 2008. Compared to a year earlier, sales were up 34%, average sale price went up 21%, average days on market went down 21%. If one of the questions you're asking yourself is, "Should I sell my house now?," consumer sentiment and the state of the real estate market today should boost your confidence. According to the latest Home Purchase Sentiment Index from Fannie Mae, 57% of consumer respondents indicate now is a good time to buy a home, while 59% feel it's a good time to sell one. In addition, there simply are not enough homes available to meet today's buyer demand. Homes are selling just as quickly as they're coming to the market. With so few homes available, we're in a true sellers' market. However, this sweet spot for sellers won't last forever. As more homes are listed throughout the year, this advantage toward sellers may start to wane.

The higher the rate, the higher your monthly mortgage payment, especially as home prices rise, too. Although inventory of houses for sale is also at a historic low, making it more challenging than normal to find a home to buy, acting sooner rather than later may be the actual win if you're ready to buy a home. |
