Disney Magic Finds a New Home
at TerraNova
|
TerraNova Equestrian Center recently purchased 50 Disney Fort Wilderness cabins to provide a glamping experience for competitors and visitors to the facility. The Cabins at TerraNova will be located across from the RV camping area, south of Badminton Way by the RV entrance to TerraNova on Clay Gully Road. Site preparation and infrastructure work is underway. Once in place, the cabins will be fitted with a personal deck space. The cabins will be ready for guests in 2025.
Disney built the cabins in 1998 and 2001. They are just under 500-square-feet and contain a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living space. Each cabin has a queen bed, twin bunkbeds and sofa bed. Disney is transitioning Fort Wilderness into a Disney Vacation Club destination, replacing the original cabins with new ones. |

Sotheby's International Realty Launches "1 of 1" Ad Campaign
A new world of luxury for an emerging luxury audience |
Sotheby's International Realty announced the launch of its new global advertising campaign earlier this month. By adopting the notion of "1 of 1," which typically refers to something one-of-a-kind, Sotheby's International Realty showcases homes for a new era of luxury. This approach is defined by the company's keen eye for a home's special attributes and the unique experiences and lifestyles they offer. This campaign builds on the brand's strategy to connect with an emerging affluent generation of buyers that values individualism and self-expression.
The new campaign reinforces the cachet of having the iconic blue Sotheby's International Realty sign in your front yard. |

| LOCAL UPDATE: MIDNIGHT PASS |
|
County Commission Votes to
Pursue Legislative Action
to Allow
Reopening of Midnight Pass
Current legal precedents prohibit the creation of new inlets |
In 1983, Midnight Pass, which allowed the free exchange of tidal waters between Siesta Key and Casey Key, was closed. During a project to deepen the Intracoastal Waterway, the Army Corps of Engineers dredged Little Sarasota Bay and deposited the dredged material at the inlet which was then filled by two property owners. The closing has resulted in poor conditions in Little Sarasota Bay. Controversy over reopening Midnight Pass ensued for decades.
Earlier this month, Sarasota County commissioners considered three options for improving water quality in Little Sarasota Bay. Option A: Study reopening Midnight Pass. Option B: Implement a system for natural water exchange. Option C: Work to change the law if current legislation does not allow reopening Midnight Pass.
The commissioners voted unanimously for Option C, and instructed staff to work with the county's lobbyist, the community and the state delegation to draft an amendment to amend the Florida statute to allow for restoration of the tidal connection to Little Sarasota Bay.
